Chapter3: Alvernon & Father’s Pride

*Action* or *Sound*

You have accepted the quest!
Your growth period will be spread out from 10 days to a month (30 days)!
You are now able to roam the city alone as long as you make it back home in time for dinner!
You are now able to leave the city as long as you are with your father or mother!
You are now able to access your stats but they will be halved until you have grown!
You will be able to earn exp. points but they will not be added until you have grown!

Tch, I knew I would regret this. I have to be a child for 20 more days and I can’t level up until I’m fully grown. All my stats are halved, so I can’t really fight against monsters, and being allowed to leave the city early doesn’t really mean much if I’m weak and I have to drag one of my NPC parents along as well.. *sigh. Might as well make the best of the situation. On the upside I get free food and lodging for the whole month and maybe the reward will compensate me for all these setbacks.

After a long 10 minutes Elian finally managed to let go of Adamas, but only because her stew was boiling for too long. After Adamas was left alone to his own devices he headed straight to the stairs. Since he was too small to walk up, he had to crawl his way all the way to the top. When he finally finished climbing the 25 or so stairs he was extremely winded. It seems like he was still weak to do anything to extraneous.

Stamina rises by one point (+1 STA)

Adamas was shocked by how quick he was able to gain a stamina stat point. He only had to climb some stairs! It took him a while to figure out that the weaker you are and the more extraneous activities you carry out, the easier it is to gain stat points. He tucked away his little nugget of information into the back of his thoughts and proceeded to wobble/run to the library. Opening the door was perhaps the most frustrating/infuriating task. Adamas could barely reach the doorknob and when he finally managed to touch the metal contraption he foundd himself on his butt because he was on his tiptoes for too long. After 11 tries, he finally managed to open the door.

Within the library there was only one small bookshelf with only three shelves and they were all within reach of Adamas. He counted only 12 books available. They were all as listed: Monster Encyclopedia, Magic for Noobs, Basic Swordfighting, Herbology, Elian’s Cooking Recipes, History of Alvernon, Floating Continents: Are They Real, Basic Blacksmithing, Tale of Lover’s Bond, The Hero’s of Old, Sewing and Cutting.

Adamas felt like he hit the jackpot. In any gaming world, information is always required, with it you would have a huge advantage over those who didn’t. Without it, you would be walking blind and be left behind by all the other players. Adamas took out History of Alvernon from the shelf and sat his little butt down on the floor with the book open to the first page in his tiny lap. Thankfully it was in human language, which looked perfectly like english. I wonder if this game also has an automatic language converter? He shook his head and quickly got rid of any distracting thoughts and began to read history. An hour later Adamas was still engrossed in the book when he heard his pseudo mother yelling out his name.

“Adamas!! Honey where are you!? Its time for your lunch!”

Adamas closed his book and dragged it along with him downstairs. On his way down he heard two notification chimes.

Chapter2: Mother’s Love

*Action* or *Sound*

A notification suddenly appeared in front of Adamas’s face.

You have been Reborn!
Your growth period will consist of 10 days in game and you will be able to log out during your sleep cycle without missing out on your growth period.
If you wish to log out during the waking hours, you must be aware that your avatar will fall into a deep slumber until you log back in or until the mandatory 10 day growth period is over.
Sleep in game is as fulfilling as sleep outside the game. If anyone sleeps for 8hours in game they will feel as if they slept 8 hours in RL. Please look at WARNING
Remember that every choice you make affects the “growth” of your avatar so please act accordingly.
WARNING: Do not abuse the in-game sleep system. It is unhealthy for the body to become a costumed to in-game sleep. Please sleep in RL when possible.

That makes sense, the sleeping part is really convenient, but it looks like I shouldn’t rely on it too much… Looks like I can only log out for 3 hours every 6 hours…. I’m sure lucky I started this on Friday, and next week is a national holiday so neither mom or dad are working…

Adamas’s line of thought was disturbed when he heard his pseudo mother speak up suddenly.

“Ah, he stopped crying Rand, it’s a shame that he’ll grow up so fast, I feel like Maia is robbing me of my time with my son.”

“Honey, we talked about this, every oracle of every church were given visions by the gods that told them that most of the next generation of children would be extraordinary and their unusual growth rate is only one out of many strange tendencies. But don’t fret my sweet love, in exchange they will be given limitless potential just like the hero’s of old, so we can only try to teach him as much as we can in this little time.”

“Yes, I know. But it still breaks my heart to know he may leave us in but only 10 days.”

“Then maybe we should kneel, and offer homage to Maia in order to grant us with another child minus the flair of an extraordinaire.”

“If only it were that easy, you know how hard it is for us to bear children. The fact that I’m elven and your human cannot be changed. It’s a miracle that we were able to have a child even if he does turn out to be a bit extraordinary.” Continue reading

Chapter1: New Life: REBORN

Adam was excited for the first time ever in a very long time, he couldn’t help but let out a girlish giggle, “hehe, Y..”

*Bang, bang, bang.*

The sound of somebody literally banging on the capsule reached Adam’s ears, and then a female voice that came from the capsule began talking.

-Outside interference with capsule detected. Scan on capsule has detected no abnormalities with the capsule. Please step outside the capsule and resolve the issue. Initiating shut down sequence.

“Noooo! Don’t shut down yet,” Adam yelled, but despite his objections the capsule ignored him and shut down.

The lid of the capsule once again became transparent (Once you enter the capsule and it turns on the transparent lid darkens until its absolutely black) and staring at him was his older sister Arianna which both shocked and surprised Adam. He was feeling multiple emotions at once; happy that she came back because of his graduation even if she was a bit late, mad that she forcefully ejected him out the capsule when he was about to start, and sad that he wouldn’t be able to do anything to her about it, because she’s insanely strong, and only fools that have a death wish would challenge her in anything.

No way in hell I want a death wish. However when he saw her usual ignorant face all of his feelings a-washed with anger and without realizing he vented on her.

“Aria! Goddammit, I was just about to start and you have to go and bang on the capsule like that, can’t you read!! It literally says “mic” right there on the top of the lid!! You only have to push the button and I’ll hear you!! Man, you’re worse than me, the saying shoot first then talk later, must’ve been made specifically to describe you.” Continue reading

SS1: “I Must”

He realized the truth during that summer before he became a senior. He was on a trip away from home (New Orleans LA) in Miami with some friends including Adam and his girlfriend. (They’ve been together for two months now) Liam was standing on the beach looking around when he suddenly received an epiphany. There he was on a beach full of half naked girls but the only one he was truly looking at was Kandy. She was perhaps the most beautiful girl on the beach that day, but Liam realized that it wasn’t love he was feeling but rather a physical attraction. Liam has had many sexual experiences in the past whenever he would test his flirting/seducing skills that he learnt from his tutor but he was never truly attracted to those girls even though they were beautiful in their own right.

Then he remembered what his tutor told him one time: “Love is just compromised of various chemical reactions occurring within the head. There are three stages. First is Lust: lust is driven by the sex hormones testosterone and estrogen, and these hormones get you looking for anything. The 2nd stage is Attraction: this is the truly love-struck phase. When people fall in love they can think of nothing else. They might even lose their appetite and need less sleep, preferring to spend hours at a time daydreaming about their new lover. In the attraction stage, a group of neuro-transmitters called ‘monoamines’ play an important role: Dopamine, Norepinephrine and Serotonin. The 3rd stage is Attachment: This is what takes over after the attraction stage, if a relationship is going to last. People couldn’t possibly stay in the attraction stage forever, otherwise they’d never get any work done! Attachment is a longer lasting commitment and is the bond that keeps couples together when they go on to have children. Important in this stage are two hormones released by the nervous system, which are thought to play a role in social attachments: Oxytocin and Vasopressin. Though the transition from each stage all depends on the desires from each of the respecting individuals. So in reality, you, yourself, gets to decide whether or not you want to continue a relationship.”

Author’s Note: Its my first time writing, much less a whole story, so I hope its satisfactory.

It was finally over, the endless speeches, the waiting as everyone was called up, the constant pictures with family and friends and the night eating out in a restaurant that is fully occupied by your family tree with branches that you had no idea even existed. After what seemed an eternity, Adam’s graduation was finally over. It was 1:00 AM and there he was, laying on his bed with a somber expression staring at the ceiling reminiscing his last four years in an institute, otherwise known as Blue Lake High School.

To say that the last four years were nothing but good memories would be.. well, simply a lie. His first year went rather well, he joined the soccer team which ranked 9th in state, chilled with his life-long friend Liam who was oddly acting different, and found the one girl that he could crush on.

Adam’s Past
Adam was born in Louisiana, New Orleans or to be exact, he was born in Metaire, East Jefferson Hospital. Adam’s family was pretty well off; his father was the CEO of a pharmaceutical company and his mother was a seamstress who owned several dry-cleaning shops around town…. Okay they were plenty well off. Even though his family had plenty of leeway when it came down to money-related situations, they never actually gave anything for free to Adam. He always had to work for what he wanted. One time when Adam was 14 he asked his father for a psX and his father replied “okay, I’ll give you $400, but only if you come and help at work.” Thinking that he only had to carry around some heavy boxes or clean the tubes, vials and etc, Adam replied enthusiastically with a “Sure”. The next day he found himself in his father’s company creating ibuprofen tablets, which took him 2 whole weeks to make (lots of precise measurements). Adam protested with his dad that he deserved more than just $400, but his dad smiled, and said “A deals a deal, so you won’t get one cent more.” Adam then went to his mother when he realized he still needed money to buy games, hoping it would be easier this time. But unfortunately the same thing happened, except this time he was sewing buttons back on clothes for the whole week.
